ABSTRACT

Monkeypox is a skin disease that spreadsfrom animals to people and then people to people, the class of the monkeypox is zoonotic and its genus are othopoxvirus. There is no special treatment for monkeypox but the monkeypox and smallpox symptoms are almost similar, so the antiviral drug developed for prevent from smallpox virus may be used for monkeypox Infected person, the Prevention of monkeypox is just like COVID-19 proper hand wash, Smallpox vaccine, keep away from infected person, used PPE kits. In this paper Deep learning is use for detection of monkeypox with the help of CNN model, The Original Images contains a total number of 228 images, 102 belongs to the Monkeypox class and the remaining 126 represents the normal. But in deep learning greater amount of data required, data augmentation is also applied on it after this the total number of images are 3192. A variety of optimizers have been used to find out the best result in this paper, a comparison is usedbased on Loss, Accuracy, AUC, F1 score, Validation loss, Validation accuracy, validation AUC, Validation F1 score of each optimizer. after comparing alloptimizer, the Adam optimizer gives the best result its total testing accuracy is 92.21%, total number of epochs used for testing is 100. With the help of deep learning model Doctors are easily detect the monkeypox virus with the single image of infected person. © 2023 IEEE.

As per the Indian population statistics, we embrace the largest adolescent population in the world. The COVID-19 pandemic had a significant impact on the lives of millions around the world. The authors through an exhaustive survey specially designed to relate the present mental state and well-being have analyzed the critical phase. 315 participants that consisted of both males and females take up the survey. Ab s t r ac t Aim: The aim of this study was to summarize different types of benefits that have been observed in the baby's development and the mother's psychological health during the postpartum period. Background(s): Breastfeeding is a natural process that plays a vital role in the physical as well as mental health of the mother and child. Breast milk is rich in contents such as proteins, fats, and vitamins, which are responsible for building the immune system of the baby. Lactation helps in decreasing the prevalence of infant mortality rate. It enhances the development of the physical health of the children. Breastfeeding protects the mother from many systemic conditions like endometrial cancer, ovarian cancer, breast cancer, etc. It has been observed that with an increase in healthy breastfeeding practices, there is a decline in the cases of maternal mental health issues reported mainly in the postpartum period. Review result: The authors have explained various types of advantages of breastfeeding on the child's and mother's health, their mechanism of action, effects on the baby, and mother-child relationship. Conclusion(s): The mother's mental health plays a crucial role in a healthy infant, and breastfeeding is key to it. The role of breastfeeding is therefore considered a boon for the mother because if there is a decrease in health issues in the child, the mother's mental condition improves automatically. Therefore, breastfeeding should be promoted at the national level. Clinical significance: Breastfeeding not only helps in reducing maternal stress and postpartum depression but also improves the physical health of the child and mother during the postpartum period. The clinicians should teach mothers about the importance and also the correct positions of breastfeeding. Every part of the world is affected by this disease. This decease affects to the all aged group human beings. In this pandemic situation, the government of India and many other countries have decided to lockdown. Due to this lockdown period, many industries are getting shut down. Manufacturers and industrialists have faced various problems. In this manuscript, different industry sectors have been taken for the study and focused on the challenges they have faced and the positive and negative impacts of lockdown in India. ABSTRACT

In 2020, after the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in widespread school closures and a consequent pause in school food programs (SFP), stakeholder groups soon found alternate methods for delivering meals and snacks to students. This paper examines the breadth of school food programming in Canada during the pandemic. SFPs collectively offered meals (breakfast was most frequent), food boxes, and gift cards and average weekly distributions were over 10,000 meals. In most cases, the programs provided enough food/coupons to feed multiple or all household members. Almost half the programs received funding from provincial/territorial governments and around two-thirds received charitable contributions.Copyright © 2022 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.

ABSTRACT

The rapid rate of mutation of the RNA genome of the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) is responsible for the emergence of viral variants, leading to the enhanced survivability of the virus. Hence, searching for new drugs that can restrict new viral infections by interacting with wild-type and mutated viral proteins is important. However, new drug development's economic and time-constraining nature makes drug repurposing a more viable solution to address the problem. In this work, we conducted a computational study to screen 23 Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAID) interactions with 5 major viral proteins of SARS-CoV-2 that are mainly involved in host infection. Our in-silico results establish a database that shows that different NSAID ligands interact with the different viral proteins with good binding affinities. Stabilizing point mutations were introduced within the conserved amino acids involved in ligand-protein interactions. Redocking the NSAID ligands with these mutated viral proteins showed that the NSAID ligands could bind with the mutated and wild-type viral proteins with comparable binding affinities. We conclude that the NSAID ligands could be repurposed as therapeutic drugs against the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Additionally, our work generated a repository that includes binding affinities, possible modes of interaction, and specific interacting residues of the protein (wild-type and mutated) ligand complexes that could be used for future validation studies. ABSTRACT

In this chapter we extend earlier work (Vinuesa et al., Nat Commun 11, 2020) on the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) to achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) proposed by the United Nations (UN) for the 2030 Agenda. The present contribution focuses on three SDGs related to healthy and sustainable societies, i.e., SDG 3 (on good health), SDG 11 (on sustainable cities), and SDG 13 (on climate action). This chapter extends the previous study within those three goals and goes beyond the 2030 targets. These SDGs are selected because they are closely related to the coronavirus disease 19 (COVID-19) pandemic and also to crises like climate change, which constitute important challenges to our society. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

ABSTRACT

The impact of Covid around the globe is imperative all around the world. Though the pandemic had glaring effects on the market, sectors have been showing a reviving trend post-covid. This is possible with the right mapping and affective forecasting. The majorly hit sector was the hotel industry, and situations showed a positive surge with potential sales incrementing post covid. Hospitality industry in particular is much prone to act post covid after easing of travel restrictions and social distancing. Sustainability seems to be the difficult arena with many hotels having low profile financial conditions. The aim of the research is to understand the potential indicators in hotels in India which are expected to boost the sales and sustain the sector. The authors have used a combination of literature review to identify the potential indicators through past studies. Further the qualitative opinion polls, focus group and interviews were conducted to evaluate the indicators and their comparative ranking in the industry. Data were gathered through hotel employees representing various domains like Front office, F & B, Marketing, and promotions department of the premium leisure hotel properties. Further the analysis has been employed for classifying the potential indicators with their relative impact, examining their cause-and-effect phenomena. The study has been validated by expert opinion poll supporting the hypothesis tested. Mapping such inclusive indicators;the hotel industry may be well prepared for the coming future. The most significant indicators have been identified and the mutual interdependence between the potential indicators have been seen through the analysis. will be highly beneficial for the hotel industry to have strong strategic preparation post covid. It also shows that estimating the critical elements at the right time can lead to vowing revenues, saving the industry. ABSTRACT

Background: COVID-19 is still going on with lots of uncertainties. There is a need for early and effective marker for prognostication of COVID-19 patients. Coagulation dysfunction and increased D-dimer levels are seen in this disease. Thus, present study was aimed to compare D-dimer value in relation to disease severity and disease mortality, and to evaluate prognostic significance of D-dimer. Method(s): All symptomatic SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR confirmed COVID-19 patients admitted in Hospital from March 31, 2021, to May 31, 2021 were evaluated and clinical, demographical and laboratory findings were collected and analysed. According to disease severity patients were grouped and death events and D-dimer value were assessed. Optimal D-dimer cut off point in all groups were evaluated. Result(s): 388 patients were included in the study out of which 142 (36.5%) died during hospital stay. Mean D-dimer value in mild disease was 1.17+/-0.21, moderate disease was 1.47+/-0.17 and in severe disease was 2.92+/-0.23 FEUmicrog/ml. Mean D-dimer value in non-survivors were significantly (P<0.001) different and higher (59.3%) as compared to survivors. ROC curve analysis showed a prognostic value of D-dimer in mild (AUC=0.755, Z=3.30, P=0.001), moderate (AUC=0.762, Z=4.65, P<0.001) and severe (AUC=0.694, Z=5.08, P<0.001) patients. Optimal cut off of D-dimer between survivor and non survivors was >0.78 in mild cases, >1.05 in moderate patients and >2.11 in severe cases. Conclusion(s): Mean D-dimer value showing increasing trend with increase disease severity and prognostic significance was found highest in moderate patients followed by mild patients and least in severe patients in terms of mortality.Copyright © 2023, Dr Yashwant Research Labs Pvt Ltd. ABSTRACT

Purpose of Study: COVID-19 introduced a rapid shift to video telehealth patient visits. At our institution in Loma Linda, California, less than 13% of hand surgery patients were seen in person at the height of the pandemic, with the majority of patients being triaged to video telehealth appointments. This was challenging for the hand surgeon due to the complexity of a hand patient's physical examination. During this time, it was critical to rapidly develop, test, and implement a tool to assist the surgeon in evaluating and triaging patients effectively over video. The purpose of this project was to develop and implement a tool that would improve the effectiveness and efficiency of video telehealth visits for hand and wrist patients. Methods Used: We developed an informational packet that was sent to patients prior to their video telehealth visit containing a letter of explanation, a new patient questionnaire, and a step-by-step guide with photos for a virtual hand examination. The letter explained the guide's purpose and provided additional instructions to ensure visit effectiveness- remove jewelry and watches, find a space with optimal lighting, wear a short sleeve shirt, etc. In the virtual hand examination guide, we explained common physical examination maneuvers and The Ten Test to assist with virtual sensation assessment. A short "how-to" description in lay terms was given for each of the physical examination maneuvers and included corresponding photographs to maximize patient comprehension. Patients were instructed to read the guide prior to their video visit and to have it available during the visit. Summary of Results: We began to implement this tool in our hand practice for new and established patients in March 2020, and we have since found that our virtual hand examination has become more thorough and efficient. Surgeon satisfaction with this tool has been high, and patients have reported satisfaction and comfort. Patients have felt that it increased their understanding of the virtual physical examination process, decreased frustration, and have stated that they would recommend this guide to other patients scheduled to undergo a video telehealth visit. Conclusion(s): The COVID-19 pandemic necessitated a rapid shift from in-person visits to video telehealth consultations. This subsequently changed the way in which hand surgeons could evaluate their patients. The procedural changes that were adopted during the pandemic can be viewed as a sign of things to come, and we anticipate that video telehealth visits will continue to be commonplace in the future. In the wake of this change, we feel confident that this tool equips the hand surgeon well for an effective and efficient virtual examination and ultimately contributes to patient satisfaction.

ABSTRACT

Purpose of Study: Cosmetic surgery preference is a highly individual choice. However, societal factors may influence public preference resulting in certain surgeries becoming more popular during a particular time. During the COVID-19 pandemic, many factors emerged which may have influenced patient decision making. These include increased time at home, hospital closure, increased time on social media, and the release of stimulus checks. Google Trends generates user search data for specific inquiries and thus is useful in reporting trends in plastic surgery related searches. The purpose of this study to determine whether the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in increased interest in certain surgeries over others. Methods Used: Google Trends was used to obtain user search data from June 2018 to June 2022. The data was obtained through entering common surgical procedure names, as well as general plastic surgery related inquiries. Special attention was given to when terms "peaked". This was then compared to the average trend of all searches and to the COVID-19 pandemic in general. Summary of Results: On average, early during the pandemic searches went down, seen as a prominent dip around March 2020. They then went up in June and July of the same year and stayed constant until early 2021. There was then a marked increase in March of 2021, with subsequent months maintaining a high percentile of search interest. This peak coincided with the third and final stimulus check release, a total of 3200 USD over the three checks, with the third being the largest (1400 USD). Of the terms analyzed, surgeries related to body contouring appeared to peak around the same time, most often in the period of March-July of 2021. Terms related to facial procedures peaked either before or after this period. Conclusion(s): The results suggest that the "boom" seen in the average trendline was predominately due to body contouring procedures. While it is difficult to determine what exactly caused this phenomenon, it is hypothesized that increased time at home, decreased physical activity, as well as the release of stimulus checks may have resulted in a patient preference for body contouring over facial procedures. Further research could focus on real practice patient numbers by procedure, and thus determine if the trends reported by Google follow real patient preference.

ABSTRACT

Purpose of Study Surgical site infections (SSI) burden U.S. hospitals with around $1.5 billion annually. To reduce SSI, irrigating the incision with an antimicrobial solution before closure is recommended. Hence, we evaluate the impact of Irrisept, a form of diluted chlorohexidine 0.05%, on reducing the prevalence of SSI in a high-risk breast cosmetic surgery population. Methods Used We conducted a retrospective cohort study using data in the electronic medical record for breast implant exchange patients in one practice and analyzed infection rates between 42 patients from July 2018-June 2019 that did not receive Irrisept irrigation (control group) with 16 patients from July 2019-July2020 that received Irrisept irrigation (experimental group;significantly less due to Covid-19). We executed descriptive analyses, independent T test, ANOVA (for 3 types of incision location), and Chi-squared to assess comorbidities and intraoperative factors. Summary of Results Among the control group (n=42), 4 patients had a postoperative infection;in the experimental group (n=16), 0 had an infection (9.52% vs. 0%;p=0.04) suggesting the use of Irrisept significantly decreases SSI. The p values from the T test and ANOVA (p<0.05=significant) showed no significant differences in breast cancer (0.84), previous radiation (0.32), history of chemotherapy (0.57), obesity (0.40), renal failure (0.32), smoker/previous smoker (0.41), type of implant (0.32), incision location (0.68), acellular dermal matrix use (0.32), or drain use (0.58) between two groups. The only significant comorbidity was diabetes (p=0.04) with 9.52% (control) vs. 0% (experimental). However, greater percentage of experimental group were obese (25% vs.14.29%) and had a history of smoking (25% vs. 9.52%). Conclusions A concern regarding the implementation of Irrisept irrigation is associated costs. However, the results show the use of Irrisept decreases the infection rates, ultimately relieving the financial burden of postoperative infections. Therefore, we recommend irrigating the incisions of breast surgery patients with Irrisept as both a preventative and economic measure.

ABSTRACT

Hematologic malignancy is a risk factor for severe coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in adults;however, data specific to children with leukemia are limited. High-quality infectious adverse event data from the ongoing Children's Oncology Group (COG) standard-risk B acute lymphoblastic leukemia/lymphoma (ALL/LLy) trial, AALL1731, were analyzed to provide a disease-specific estimate of SARS-CoV-2 infection outcomes in pediatric ALL. Of 253 patients with reported infections, the majority (77.1%) were asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic (CTCAE grade 1/2) and there was a single COVID-19-related death. These data suggest SARS-CoV-2 infection does not confer substantial morbidity among young patients with B-lymphoblastic leukemia/lymphoma (B-ALL/LLy).Copyright © 2023 The Authors. eJHaem published by British Society for Haematology and John Wiley & Sons Ltd.

ABSTRACT

Penicilliosis is a fungal infection caused by the fungus Penicillium marneffei or Talaromyces marneffei . Penicillosis is commonly seen in immunocompromised patients such as in HIV(AIDS). Herein, we present a case of penicilliosis in an oral cavity cancer patient who was admitted for the management of SARS-CoV-2 infection at our hospital. A 50-year-old male patient operated on for squamous cell carcinoma of the oral cavity who completed his adjuvant chemoradiation 2 months ago, presented to our hospital with dry cough for more than 3 weeks. His nasopharyngeal swab was positive for the severe acute respiratory distress syndrome (SARS-CoV-2). During his hospital stay for SARS-CoV-2 infection, he was diagnosed with disseminated penicilliosis. The patient was treated with intravenous antifungals caspofungin and voriconazole. However, he succumbed to disseminated fungal sepsis. This case highlights the need to consider penicilliosis as a possible opportunistic pathogen, especially in immunocompromised patients such as cancer.

ABSTRACT

The replication of biological systems by mechanical and electronic devices is referred to as bionics. The bionics industry has grown along four primary application areas, in addition to hearing, vision, orthopedics, and a small, dispersed group of implants that enhance cardiac and neurological functions. The SARS-CoV-2 virus is the infectious disease known as coronavirus disease (COVID-19). The virus-infected people require assistance to better understand the situation caused by COVID-19 and to bring some easy, efficient, and effective solutions. One of the solutions mentioned for the early stages involves wearable sensors with temperature sensors for early Covid-19 identification and photos delivered to an AI-enabled smartphone, robotic sensor, or robot itself. In severe situations, lung X-ray images are captured by robotic and remote sensors, and the lungs are given the right medication to finish off the virus. The paper presents the study on the overview, applications of artificial intelligence, and deep learning from the bionics point of view. Deep learning and machine learning will be used for reducing the Covid-19 outbreak. Wearable sensors provide important data by having temperature-embedded sensors in several physical devices that reveal details about the environment and body that are connected. Covid-19 probability prediction is aided by smartphones with artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities. Case history, doctor notes, chest X-ray reports, details on the sites of breakouts, and other criteria can help forecast the severity of Covid-19 when it is in its severe phases and direct the administration of medication to a specific area of the lungs.

ABSTRACT

The COVID-19 outbreak has distorted employee and manager's attitudes toward work, impacting businesses, industries, and organizations worldwide. Organizations have begun implementing well-managed work-from-home, teleworking, flexible working, or digital working strategies to respond to these trends effectively. The study's main purpose is to investigate the importance of organizational and supervisory support in promoting employee psychological well-being by providing well-proportioned work-from-home experience to IT employees. Using an empirical research approach, the study collected data from 282 IT professionals forced to work from home fully and partially throughout India's first three waves of covid-19. The responses were analyzed using descriptive statistics and regression analysis using SPSS and AMOS. The study's findings revealed that supervisory/managers support demonstrated a significant positive association with psychological well-being compared with organizational support practices. However, employees perceived that well-balanced work-from-home experiences require major support from organizations than managers. The study identified that both organizational and supervisory support plays an important role in establishing positive work-from-home experience and the psychological well-being of IT professionals. In response, organizations and supervisors/ managers collective approach is needed in establishing flexible work settings. Flexible work settings have been researched from the perspective of an information technology professional. However, there is a dearth of research on the influence of forced work from home on the psychological well-being of IT employees. Understanding how organizational and supervisory support plays an important role in establishing resilience between work-from-home practices and psychological well-being during covid and beyond would be helpful.
